Thoughts
– I could probably have gotten closer to 30 hours if my kids hadn’t found 5 baby field mice in our garage. Much researching, begging, and pleading was followed by feeding tiny baby field mice kitten milk from a dropper and creating baby-mouse-appropriate housing.
– I enjoyed the challenge… but I also found it, well, challenging. Half way through Day 2 I hit a wall. Reading felt like a chore. I had flashbacks to grad school when I forced my way through books I wished I had time to savor.
– I discovered that I like to read books in one sitting but then I like to take time off between books. I get so caught up in books that I need time for my brain to slowly move out of the books’ world before I am ready to move on to the next book.

I always have to take some time, read some blogs, do some tweeting, in between books during this, especially ones that really grabbed me. I think writing the reviews really helps me get some of that saturation out of my brain, too.

Great job on your Finish Line! Yay! Small Gods is one of my favorite books. How was The False Prince? I’ve been hearing good murmurs about it.

  2. kczaja says:

I loved The False Prince. The pacing was a bit choppy but the unreliable narrator more than made up for it. It kept me second-guessing what would happen and what was true.

  3. kczaja says:

I think you are right… I should have spent more time between books reviewing, decompressing, socializing.

  4. Ms. Yingling says:

Yeay! Yeah, baby field mice could take a chunk out of any day. I was surprised that I liked The False Prince as much as I did. Interesting that you like time in between books. I am unfortunately a chain reader!

  5. Liviania says:

Great job! Spending time reviewing definitely helped me push through.

  6. Misti says:

Congratulations on finishing! I hear you, about needing time between books to decompress. I feel the same way.
